Situated at the heart of Tel Aviv’s business district and adjacent to a military base, the Sarona neighborhood is distinct for its blend of history and modernity. Established as an agricultural settlement in 1871 by immigrant German Templer Christians, Sarona has proved to be adaptable as its ownership has changed hands. Under different governmental regimes, Sarona has operated as an agricultural settlement, a Nazi party center, a detention camp, and a business hub.

In the early 2000s, the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality worked to begin restoring and renovating the area. Today, the space has emerged as a hub of history, complete with museums and preserved historical buildings, as well modern cultural center, with world-class restaurants and shopping.


SARONA TOURS
Guided tours are available throughout the week. The tours begin at the Sarona Visitors Center, where participants discover the area's fascinating story through multimedia installations and original artifacts. They continue with a walking tour outdoors revealing Sarona’s beautiful well-preserved houses as well as the first mechanical oil mill of the Land of Israel, and end with Sarona’s historic underground Templar tunnel. Visitors are also welcome to play bowling at the restored Templar bowling alley.
